U2.com today confirms that the U2 360¡Æ tour will open at the Nou Camp Stadium in Barcelona on 30th June. The U2 360¡Æ Tour is sponsored by BlackBerry¢ç and it is the band¡¯s first stadium outing since the Vertigo Tour 05/06 and follows the release of their acclaimed album, No Line On The Horizon. Their 12th studio album, No Line On The Horizon is already number 1 in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Belgium, Finland, Japan and the Czech Republic with further chart positions to be announced this week.
Produced by Live Nation Global Touring, U2 360¡Æ will visit 14 cities across Europe including dates in Milan, Gothenburg, Amsterdam, Paris, Nice, Dublin, Chorzow, Berlin, Gelsenkirchen, London, Sheffield and Glasgow before finishing at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on 22nd August. The European tour will be followed by dates in North America beginning at Chicago¡¯s Soldier Field on September 12th, 2009.

Bloomberg tells the story of Barbara Desoer, who put her house in Charlotte, North Carolina, on the market in August for $1.675 million when she was named head of Bank of America Corp.’s real-estate unit, Countrywide Financial Corp., in Calabasas, California. She and her husband had bought the home in 2000 for $1.15 million. It sold in December, to Bank of America which has put the home up for sale for $1.295 million. A proxy statement reveals that Bank of America will cover costs associated with the sale of the Desoers’ house, plus $1.5 million for costs on their new home in California and another $1.1 million for tax-related costs.

The home is in one of Charlotte’s priciest neighborhoods where the inventory of million-dollar homes on the market is very high. It would take years to sell just what is available now reports a local real estate agent. In Charlotte, which is home to Bank of America, home sales have been falling since June 2007. Wells Fargo & Co.’s purchase of Charlotte-based Wachovia, could mean more job cuts and more homes on the market.

Take the Urwerk UR103 T watch in your hand, look at it straight-on and you’ll decipher the arachnid design influences in this novelty. The 50mm tall and 36mm wide watch case and movement are constructed of a blend of metals comprised mostly of steel, titanium, and some aluminum, with a healthy amount of creative alloys. The calibre 3.03 manually-wound movement is unique to this watch featuring a 43 hour power reserve able to operate the complex litany of mechanical complications involved in powering the watch. While the satellite method of telling time is not unique to Urwerk, they certainly put the effective time readout system on the map. Reading the time is simple: follow the then viewable hour number on the rotating satellite and connect its position on the spot where it touches the curved minute scale. As the conical satellite drags across the scale, the hour passes and eventually a new satellite takes over. Each satellite has three hour numbers on the cone.

A large curved sapphire crystal covers the top of the watch, while the vertical grooves on the watch case make for a refined looking wrist instrument. The tapered alligator strap helps remove heft from the design making it comfortable while being more visibly bearable, and the top placement of the large crown makes winding the Tarantula while worn simple and convenient. The UR103T Tarantula is a perfect addition to the Urwerk line up adding a fresh new face, while strictly keeping with the brand’s personality.

The Mayan Riviera has gotten another big project. Grupo Grand Coral has announced Grand Coral Riviera Maya which will be located 30 minutes from the Cancun Airport and five minutes from the coastal town of Playa del Carmen. The $2.5 billion project covers 561 oceanfront acres and will include restaurants, hotels, boutiques and an 18-hole Nick Price golf course.

The ambitious development is broken into multiple construction phases which are estimated to take place over the next ten years and $700 million has been invested to date. Already underway is Mareazul which includes 300 luxury beachfront condominiums, a spa, Botanical Zen garden with Mayan sculptures and a beach club with private cabanas.

The golf course will take approximately two years to complete and will include the Nick Price Residences, 123 units adjacent to the clubhouse and with course views. These properties will be available for full or fractional ownership. When the development is finished there will be close to 7,000 residences.

More than 75% of the land will be kept in its natural state or turned into recreational parks and gardens and all greenery removed during construction will be housed in a greenhouse until ready for replanting.

Brunch is not a meal I take lightly.  In fact, it’s practically a religion for me.  So when I was invited to get a sneak peek at the new brunch menu at 1905 Bistro, I was tickled hollandaise!  And then when the tasting involved several other goodies, including their basil-infused signature cocktail, The Green Lantern, and a burger with gouda and grilled onions, I was in heaven.  

So back to brunch…  The new brunch menu starts this Sunday and is not to be missed.  I also plan to go back for their live jazz on Thursdays and because they will begin competing with Ben’s Chili Bowl with a late night menu! 

This is yet another one of those spicy details that Miley Cyrus has decided to share with the entire world in her book. She apparently suffers from tachycardia, which is an affection that makes her heart have a faster rate when resting than normal. Miley Cyrus wrote this about it in her autobiography: “The type of tachycardia I have isn’t dangerous. It won’t hurt me, but it does bother me. There is never a time onstage when I’m not thinking about my heart.” Ironically, by worrying about it, she is making it slightly worse because worrying does accelerate the heart a bit. I don’t know why Miley Cyrus just doesn’t consider herself to be a bit more “passionate” all of the time in comparison to other people and just leave it at that. But hey, then again, she does have to fill her book with something.
