Not a flavored vodka and not a gin, there is no ready description forSquare One Botanical, the new organic rye spirit, from Square One Spirits. Like a gin, the new spirit gets a kick from botanicals. It is infused with eight organic botanicals - pear, rose, chamomile, lemon verbena, lavender, rosemary, coriander and citrus peel for an experience that is softer than gin. Square One Botanical sells for around $40 and the website includes a variety of recipes for using it. The floral notes make it a good match for fresh fruit and juices to make refreshing summer cocktails. -

Brown leather is so classic and appealing -- I think almost all of us have owned a brown leather bag at some point in our lives! Jimmy Choo understands the appeal as well as anyone, shaping it this time into a richly-colored brown leather printed shoulder bag called "Lucy." It features a simple foldover front with a clip fastening. All the hardware is goldtone, which includes more clip fastenings on the shoulder strap and zipper closure along the bag's top. Plus several pockets and a tan suede lining can be found inside. $1,495 -

Nothing like a big dose of bright red to catch some eyes and make a statement! Tod's G-Bag Bauletto Piccolo Satchel looks like red patent leather in these photos but it's really coated canvas -- which makes it lighter on both you and your wallet. There is leather in the form of contrasting brown trim and double handles that are adjustable via buckles. Other details include zip-top closure and a wide opening, little metal feet on the bottom, and a dark brown nylon lining. $850

< These pretty watches remind me of some of the new Bertolucci women's timepieces, but that is just fine. This is the Elements Ladies collection (Water, Terre, and Feu watches) from Alain Sauser (isn't that an exemplar of luxury brand sounding names?!). The collection is part of a larger collection of timepieces that share the same type of case that is rendered in so many ways, with so many designs. I couldn't write about them all though. The concept of creating a line of watches for the elements is common, but this one really makes me see the inspiration in each. The water watch really looks like it should be in water, and you can see the cracked dirt in the Earth model. Not sure where the "Air" model is, somewhere flying around perhaps.
Each watch comes in a 38mm wide 18k white gold case with a bevy of applied jewels including 685 diamonds, and either sapphires, rubies and yellow sapphire, or brown and black diamonds. The jewels are each set by hand. Not sure, but I believe the watches have quartz movements. Dauphine hands complete the elegant look, and the straps are fun and friendly to go with the theme of each watch. Look for the Alain Sauser Elements Ladies Jewelry watches available soon.

Pals Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox have shot down rumours they have fallen out by having a girly night out, according to reports.
Jen, 40, and Courtney, 44, who both starred in popular US sitcom Friends, were spotted out in Los Angeles amid rumours the pair had had a bust-up.
An onlooker said: “They were having a lot of fun, laughing and dancing. Both of them seemed to be loving the attention of bemused diners.
“Courtney grabbed Jen’s hand at the bar and they were giggling with their fingers intertwined. Rumours they’d had a terminal row were total rubbish.”

Magnum Marine's wicked new $8.95 million 80-ft. speedboat (above) has lines like a supercar, which is hardly surprising since legendary Italian styling house Pininfarina, known for Ferraris and such, did the design. Florida-based Magnum, founded in 1966, is dedicated to making "sexy, high-end speedboats on a grand scale." The hand-laminated, high performance craft is powered by twin 2400 hp MTU diesels producing a top speed of about 60 mph. Even at that velocity its deep-V hull "cuts through the waves like a knife, making for a smooth, comfortable and quiet ride even in adverse sea conditions." The boat's interiors are extremely spacious and features tons of teak, large open spaces and two VIP cabins with en-suite baths, copious living and dining areas and crew accommodations.

November 4th, 2009UncategorizedThanks to the Mexico travel slump, there are now substantial savings to be had at two of our readers' favorite Mexican properties: the Rosewood Mayakobá on the Riviera Maya and Las Ventanas al Paraiso in Los Cabos. At the Rosewood Mayakobá, rooms that normally go for $749 (including all taxes and service charges) now cost $502. That's a savings of 33%. -
November 3rd, 2009UncategorizedThe singer who recently split from his wife, Katie Price, is apparently going to be buying a new house close to his old one in order to get the rights to the children. A source said the following about Peter Andre’s new home purchase: “Pete has found his dream home for him and the children. He spent a week house-hunting, but knew within seconds of seeing this place it was ideal.” The singer himself said the following to Katie Price about the house: “This is where I want the kids to be.” That’s probably just a pretext or a bonus. Peter Andre probably just wants to throw eggs at Katie Price from his own yard.

Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke is teaming up with Emile Hirsch to produce a modern-day version of Hamlet.
Proposed by Hirsch, Shakespeare’s story will be transported to a liberal arts college on the US East Coast.
Hirsch, 24, will play Hamlet, the son of the university’s president.
He returns for his father’s funeral only to learn that his uncle has taken his dad’s post and is suspected of arranging his murder.
A film script has yet to be written, but Hardwicke is excited about making the film - even though she never imagined herself working on Shakespeare.
“I had never thought of it at all, until Emile mentioned the idea,” she says.
“At first, I thought it was scary and crazy and then we read it aloud and I knew how to do it.”
The director - who worked with Hirsch on Lords of Dogtown - says: “You will understand everything without having a copy of Shakespeare for Dummies with you.”
